On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met actor-turned-politician and BJP candidate from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat Sunny Deol. Obviously, the PM is rooting for him and to express his agreement, used the famous dialogue from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha that goes like this, “Hindustan zindabad hai, tha aur rahega.”
Sharing a picture with him on social media, PM Modi writes, “What struck me about @iamsunnydeol is his humility and deep passion for a better India.
We both agree- हिन्दुस्तान जिंदाबाद था, है, और रहेगा!”
Sunny Deol will be filing his nomination paper on Monday and is most likely to be accompanied by Union Minister VK Singh and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and actor-brother Bobby Deol. Deol had conducted a roadshow for the BJP in Jaisalmer on Saturday in support of the party candidate. He also paid homage to former Gurdaspur MP Vinod Khanna on his death anniversary. “I am coming to Gurdaspur to take forward the works initiated by him (Khanna). I seek blessings of everyone,” the actor had tweeted.
Speaking of his decision to join politics, it was announced last week. Sunny is the third member from the Deol family to step into politics after Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
